Golder’s contribution to the IMWA 2017 program
You are cordially invited to come and visit one of our sessions or poster presentations:

Monday June 26

Aquifer Reinjection Scheme for Excess Mine Water: Design Methodology and Outcomes
Presented by: Grace Yungwirth, Senior Mine Water Engineer, London office
Time: 01.30pm – 03.30pm
Venue: Arena
Abstract: The controlled reinjection of water to an aquifer, or managed aquifer recharge, can provide an opportunity for improvements to sustainability in mine operations by reducing the discharge to surface of groundwater arising from dewatering, thus minimising the wastage of finite resources.

Tuesday June 27

The Application of Discrete Fracture Network Models to Mine Groundwater Studies
Presented by: Gareth Digges La Touche, Senior Hydrogeologist, Nottingham office; and Mark Cottrell, Geotechnical Engineer / Modeller, Naas office
Time: 10.00am – 11.40am
Venue: Arena
Abstract: Gareth and Mark will present examples of the use of Discrete Fracture Network models implemented through the FracMan modelling environment to mine groundwater studies.

Implementation of the HVB Model for Simulating Snowmelt and Runoff at Mine Sites in Northern Nordic Areas
Contact person: Niclas Bockgård, Geohydrologist, Stockholm office
Time: 10.00am – 11.40am
Venue: Room Saimaa
Abstract: The poster presents a conceptual runoff model based on the HBV model structure is used as a component of site-wide water-balance models for mines. The approach is illustrated through two case studies, one the Björkdal Mine in northern Sweden and one from a mine in northern Finland.
